James Brownlie born c1815[1]. In 1841, lived at Gilley’s Land, New Dumbarton Road, Partick. (North of the Clyde River). James married Janet (?) born c1817. At the time of their marriage, Janet worked as a straw hat manufacturer.[2]

They had issue:

1. Thomas Brownlie born 1835[3].

2. John Brownlie born 1837[4].

3. James Brownlie born 1839[5].
